Cold and clear here now. Record breaking events further north. Sad news and massive disruption. Just a few feet ASL can make a big difference and those lovely vantage points near a river carry a big threat these days. Is it these days? Anyway hope all are safe and genuine best wishes to all who are caught in the extremes of the weather.
SW Bowland. 550ft.
Just about keeping dry here now, though some big unhappy looking clouds about.
Pressure rising. Temp has been up to 11.5C. Dropped back now to 10.4C.
What distressing and tragic scenes from the Lake Distruct region.
Huge rain totals there on the tops and higher valleys. My relative on lower ground nr Windermere, thankfully not personally affected by flooding, collected 64.4 mm in his gauge at 9am this morning for the previous 24 hrs. So in the last 3 days he's recorded 162.9 mm. He's already far exceeded his wettest November total (over last 36yrs).
Dreading the next wet and wild spell this weekend.
Good morning
Got some blue sky at the moment some rain during the night its quiet mild not much wind.No rain yesterday managed to get our bowling match played after two weeks cancelled .
SW Bowland. 550ft. Good morning all. Hope everyone is OK. What traumas there have been.
We are 30 miles south of the Lake District and it's amazing how the rain lingered there all day and missed us. Collected only 6.7mm at 8am this morning for the last 24hrs.
Most of that fell overnight.
Maybe a more hopeful day. There are some blue patches this morning though also some heavy looking cloud moving in the fresh W wind.
Pressure rising.
Temp now 11.0C.
Congrats to the MO for their accurate severe weather warnings given well in advance.

SW Bowland. Just heard from a relative sitting in a train in Preston. He's come back up from London today, hoping to reach home nr Lancaster. Virgin trains bound for Glasgow are stopping at Preston and going no further. The track between Oxenholme (nr Kendal) and Penrith is flooded on places, or obstructed, so no trains are allowed to go along it. Stranded Glasgow bound passengers have been given the option of a overnight hotel in Preston. Those passengers whose journey north is really vital tonight are being packed into one train which is to try and make the trip. My relative is on that train as it waits for passengers. He tells me that yesterday morning, after the big rain in Lancashire, his train going south of Lancaster had to stop. The driver got out and walked up the track, prodding it with a stick to check the safety where streams were gushing near the line.
So this one train trip tonight on the mountainous length north of Kendal sounds a very hairy and slow one. Good luck to them. It's still raining up there.
Here just some light rain at times so far.
Pressure steady. Temp 13.0C still.
SW Bowland. Still dry here. Great good luck.
Cloudy, wall to wall, as it has been all day.
Pressure very very slowly falling. Remarkably warm. Temp pushing the max now, 13.0C.
Very windy.
SW Bowland. Relative nr Windermere collected 57.9 mm from his gauge this morning at 9am.
Just heard on the radio that the A6 south of Kendal has been shut because of flooding.
