Low pressure will be tracking north-eastwards across northern parts of the British Isles during the next 24 hours or so, bringing showers or longer spells of rain to the north and west. For the south and east, however, rainfall will be scarce, with another largely fine and very warm day to come.

For many parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland Tuesday dawns dull and wet with some locally heavy outbreaks of rain. Showery rain is also affecting parts of Ireland, Wales and western England this morning and these showery conditions will extend further north through the day as the more persistent rain becomes confined to the far north.

Meanwhile, for many central and eastern parts of England it is a drier start with some sunny spells, and although there will be more cloud developing today with scattered showers breaking out across northern and western regions, it will remain mostly dry for many places. The best of the sunshine will once again be across East Anglia and south-east England.

It will be a breezier day for many places, particularly in the north and west, but despite this it will be very warm again across many parts of England and Wales with top temperatures of 26°C to 31°C. It will be cooler across much of the north and west, particularly beneath the cloud and rain in Scotland where temperatures will be held back in the mid to high teens.

A breezy night follows and there is a risk of showers breaking out more widely although they will always tend to be heaviest and most frequent towards the north and west, whilst some south-eastern regions again remain dry. We keep this northwest/southeast split as we head into tomorrow too, with some wet and windy weather developing across the northwest. Elsewhere, any rain will tend to come in the form of showers, with much of the south seeing another fine and warm day.
