High pressure remains centred to the north of the British Isles today maintaining an airflow off the North Sea that will once again keep eastern coastal areas noticeably cooler. However, winds across southern Britain will be lighter than yesterday, allowing temperatures here to edge upwards once again after a slightly fresher day.
It is a fairly cool start to the morning for many regions, particularly compared with recent days, and once again areas of mist and low cloud have spread inland from the North Sea across central and eastern parts of the country overnight. In a few places, this is even producing a little patchy drizzle. Further west, however, it is a much brighter start with plenty of early sunshine. As the morning progresses, the strong July sunshine will steadily erode the low cloud, burning it back towards eastern coasts and leaving many places with a fine and sunny afternoon. The only exception to the largely dry theme will be across the far south and southwest where there remains a small risk of one or two heavy, thundery showers developing. Most places, however, will stay dry. There will again be quite a contrast in temperatures across the country, ranging from the mid to high teens along northern and eastern coasts where the onshore breeze persists, to the mid to high twenties across many inland areas, but across central and southern England highs of 30°C to 31°C are expected.
Tonight and tomorrow bring very little change with the overall weather pattern remaining almost unchanged. Low cloud will once again spread inland from the North Sea this evening and overnight while western areas stay largely clear. Tomorrow sees that cloud gradually retreating back towards eastern coasts leaving most places with another fine, sunny and very warm day. Across the far south and southwest, however, there will continue to be a small chance of one or two heavy, thundery showers developing.
