Northern regions of the UK are still being plagued by a slow-moving frontal system bringing a fair amount of cloud and a little rain or drizzle today but for much of the country high pressure will bring a fine and warm day with the fine weather set to continue into the weekend for most areas.
There is some mist, fog and low cloud around this morning but this is generally not as widespread as it has been over the last couple of days so for most places it will soon turn into a fine, warm and largely sunny day. Some cloud will bubble up in places but do little more than block out the sunshine at times so for most regions it will remain fine. Temperatures will respond to the sunshine with maximums generally a touch warmer than yesterday as they range from 20°C to 23°C quite widely, but it will be slightly cooler around coasts as sea breezes develop. It's worth remembering though that pollen and UV levels are increasing so precautions will be necessary if you are outside.
The exception to the largely fine and warm weather again comes across the north and west of Scotland where there is much more in the way of cloud around, the cloud bringing some rain and drizzle at times but even this damper weather will tend to become confined to northern Scotland by this afternoon. Temperatures will be more subdued here as a result with highs in the low-mid teens at best.
Over the next few days the generally fine and settled weather will continue in many regions and as winds start to come in from more of a southerly quarter so warmer air will be dragged north with temperatures by the weekend expected to peak in the mid-twenties across central and southern Britain but watch out for those high pollen and UV levels.
