Friday will bring a rather unsettled end to the working week as a frontal system continues to move eastwards across the British Isles, bringing outbreaks of rain to many areas before gradually clearing away into the North Sea. Behind it, a brisk west/north-westerly airflow will bring a mixture of sunny spells and blustery showers with temperatures recovering a little across southern and eastern England but remaining rather cool further north.
Friday morning starts wet across many parts of England and Wales with outbreaks of rain, some of which will be heavy for a time, particularly across central and eastern areas. The rain will gradually clear away eastwards through the morning, although a further showers or longer spells of rain may linger across parts of south-eastern England into the afternoon. Further north and west, Scotland, Northern Ireland and eventually northern England will see some brighter intervals developing, but there will also be plenty of showers, particularly across western Scotland where they will be heavy and accompanied by gusty winds. Temperatures will generally reach 12°C to 15°C across Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, 15°C to 17°C across northern England and Wales, but a milder 17°C to 19°C across central, southern and eastern England.
This evening and tonight sees the remaining rain clearing away from southern and eastern England with clearer conditions developing for a time. However, showers will continue to feed into northern and western areas on a brisk west/north-westerly wind, with some heavy showers towards the northwest. Saturday then looks rather blustery and showery, particularly across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England where showers could be frequent and heavy with the odd rumble of thunder possible. Further south there should be some drier and brighter spells between the showers although temperatures will be down on today's values.
