Thursday will be disappointingly dull and damp for many regions as another Atlantic frontal system rolls in from the west bringing with it extensive cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle which will take their time to push through.
Eastern regions are dawning dry, bright and cool first thing this morning but thickening cloud is pushing in from the west ahead of a band of rain which is bringing a wet start to the day across many parts of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England. This rain, locally heavy at times over high ground, will continue to push eastwards today to leave many areas dull and overcast with spells of rain and drizzle, although this should turn more patchy from the west later. The exception is likely to be across northern and northeastern Scotland, along with the Northern Isles, where, apart from the odd shower, it will be a largely dry and bright day with some sunshine. It will be rather cool despite the sunshine with temperatures here in the low teens, and values under the cloud and rain will be held back too with highs generally in the range of 16°C to 19°C in moderate to fresh west-southwesterly winds, although humidity levels will be increasing.
A rather mild and muggy night follows with many places holding onto a fair amount of cloud. The more persistent rain will tend to pull away to the east but many regions will be at risk of seeing some further patchy rain and drizzle at times, with the best of any clear spells developing towards the end of the night. Tomorrow is then set to be another generally cloudy start across much of the country as some more rain pushes in across parts of Ireland and central Britain, but this will turn more showery with showers also affecting the north during the day. By the afternoon, some bright spells will develop in many places with temperatures picking up.
