High pressure remains firmly established to the north of the British Isles today which means that we retain a east/northeast breeze coming in off the North Sea. As a result, eastern coastal areas will once again be kept noticeably cooler than inland districts but much of the country will enjoy another fine summer's day.
It is another fairly cool start to the morning for many, especially across central and eastern regions of the UK where areas of mist and low cloud have once again drifted inland from the North Sea overnight. In one or two places this has produced a little patchy drizzle, but further west it is a much brighter start with lengthy spells of sunshine already developing.
As the morning progresses, the sunshine will gradually burn away much of the low cloud, restricting it back towards eastern coasts and leaving many places with another fine and sunny afternoon. The only exception to the predominantly dry theme will be across the far south and southwest of the UK along with the Channel Islands where there remains a chance of one or two heavy, thundery showers developing later in the day. Most places, however, will stay dry.
Temperatures will once again show a marked contrast across the country, ranging from the mid to high teens around northern and eastern coasts where the onshore breeze persists to the mid-high twenties across many inland and western regions, but for parts of central and southern England highs of 30°C are possible once again.
Very little change is expected as we move into tonight and tomorrow with the overall weather pattern remaining largely unchanged. Low cloud will once again spread inland from the North Sea this evening and overnight before gradually retreating back towards eastern coasts tomorrow morning. This will leave most places with another fine, sunny and very warm day on Thursday but for the far south and southwest there will continue to be a chance of one or two heavy, thundery showers developing.
