A weakening frontal system is now clearing away from southeast England leaving much of the British Isles under a west/south-westerly air stream for the start of the weekend. Pressure will be reasonably high across southern areas bringing plenty of dry weather, while further north and west there will be a more unsettled feel with showers affecting areas exposed to the wind.

Saturday morning starts largely dry and bright across much of England and Wales with some good spells of sunshine developing, although there may initially be a few patches of mist and fog to clear. Further north and west there will be more in the way of cloud with scattered showers across parts of Ireland. Northern Ireland and Scotland, these most frequent and blustery across the north and west of Scotland. Through the afternoon most southern and eastern areas remain dry with sunny spells, while showers continue further northwest. Temperatures will generally reach around 14°C to 18°C across Scotland and Northern Ireland, but a rather warmer 18°C to 21°C across England and Wales although down on yesterday's values.

This evening sees most places becoming dry with some clear spells developing, although a few showers will continue across the far northwest. Overnight cloud will begin to increase across western areas ahead of the next frontal system approaching from the west bringing outbreaks of rain with it, the rain turning heavy over parts of Ireland and western Scotland. Sunday starts largely dry across central and eastern areas with some warm spells of sunshine, but cloud, strengthening winds and outbreaks of rain will gradually spread in from the west with showers following, however, rainfall amounts towards the south will again be on the small side.
