FAQ's

Where have the RealFeel temperatures gone?
This is a Summer/Autumn only algorithm and is replaced by Wind Chill during the winter months.

The forecast for my area is always wrong!
This is usually caused by the fact we have the wrong latitude, longitude or elevation for your location. If this is the case then please get in contact with us and let us know so that we can update the details manually for you.

My temperature forecast is showing a ridiculously low figure!
This is a result of a corrupted GRIB file and is usually rectified on the next model update. The fact is, that if the data looks very wrong on the site then it usually is.

My RainRisk or SnowRisk is showing 10,000%!
This is a result of some members of the ensemble forecast not updating properly. We're working on a solution to this at the moment.

Why do the forecasts update an hour later in Summer?
They don't. All our servers operate on GMT which means that the forecasts are always updated at the same time each day, however when clocks go forward, it means that the forecasts appear to be an hour later, when in fact, they aren't.

The site is running really slowly
This is usually due to exceptional server load. In peak times such as very cold weather or thundery weather, the demand for our forecasts increases by as much as 500%. This means that whilst we do everything we can to keep the site online, the access speed can be rather slow.

I want a job with Metcheck!
Metcheck is always recruiting the best in the industry. If you feel you have something to offer and are qualified in the weather industry then get in touch.

Metcheck forecasts haven't been updated for ages!
This is quite rare, but sometimes things go wrong and we can't obtain data for the website. Our techie guys are always monitoring the servers and we will always be working behind the scenes to ensure data downtime is kept at a minimum.
