The weather seems to be doing a very good job at the moment of misbehaving itself when the weekends come around with a cooler and more changeable weekend in store for many areas thanks to an area of low pressure pushing in from the Atlantic. However as we go into next week there are, yes you've guessed it, signs of temperatures creeping back up, especially towards the south and east, as southerly winds develop.
Back to this morning and whilst there is a lot of cloud around in many places with some scattered showers, there will be some sunny spells around too, especially towards the east of the country. In fact the east will stay mainly dry for much of today but the sunshine will become increasingly hazy as the south/south-westerly winds pick up in advance of an approaching frontal system that will be bringing outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, into many western areas this afternoon, that rain moving across Northern Ireland before reaching much of Scotland along with parts of northwest England, Wales and southwest England by this evening. Temperatures today will be close to normal for many, reaching the mid-high teens, but the brighter east could see highs of 22°C to 24°C. However it will be feeling much cooler in the northwest where gales gusting 55-65 mph are likely later on.
That band of rain will erratically edge south-eastwards across England and Wales tonight but southeast England will remain dry. Meanwhile clearer condition with scattered showers will follow into Scotland and Northern Ireland whilst the winds will slowly begin to ease a touch. The weekend sees rain continuing to slowly sink southeast across England and Wales on Saturday, although the far southeast may stay dry for much of the day. Meanwhile brighter conditions affect the northwest with a few showers and this brighter weather then affects most places on Sunday before more wind and rain arrives across the far northwest late in the day.
