Yes, it's that time of the year when we get stuck into a rather stubborn weather pattern across the UK. This year we have a high pressure area near Scandinavia which brought us plenty of well broken sunshine yesterday. The sharp eyed of you will have noticed that today though the wind has a slightly more Easterly taste to it thanks to the high shifting ever so slightly.
This small change (granted, it's probably more than 15cm to the left) allows for more moist air to come in from the East around the periphery of the system which will introduce much more in the way of low cloud throughout today.
So, we start the day with some broken cloud across Eastern and Western parts of England. Also, Northern Ireland and Western Scotland seeing plenty of early morning sunshine. Throughout the day though we will see cloud bubbling up across all parts of the British Isles.
Staying dry pretty much everywhere today. Temperatures this morning nowhere near as low as we saw yesterday morning and throughout the day these will rise quickly, especially for England where 17 or 18c is possible this afternoon. Cooler the further North and West you head, but even so it's not too far off what we would expect for this time of year.
The feature over the next few days is the wind. It will pick up from the East or Southeast and later in the week the dew points will drop which will give more sunshine, but outside in the wind it will feel pretty chilly. You know those sort or days when you look out of the office and think "Ooh, it looks lovely and warm outside, I think I'll have lunch in the park". Then, when you open the door you say "Blummin' eck! It's not as warm as it looks!". Yep, those type of days are on the way.... Good weather for drying clothes though.
