Yep, it's reached that moment in the Christmas week where we haven't a clue what day it is.... Apparently it's a Bank Holiday Tuesday?
The good news is that we have a better handle on the weather situation across the country this morning than we do on day names and high pressure is well and truly in control of the weather across many areas. As always with high pressure areas it's where the centre is which dictates the type of weather you will see today. In the centre of the system it's more likely to be disorganised high cloud, whilst to the West of the centre it's a case of milder air moving North which introduces cloud and to the East of the centre the air is warmed at the base which provides a better opportunity for clear skies.
Needless to say that's exactly how it will pan out today with cloud across Northern Ireland and Scotland, though some breaks in the cloud across Eastern Scotland in the shelter of the Grampians. Hazy, weak sunshine across Central parts of England and also Wales, but across Southern and Eastern areas it's another glorious mid Winters day with weak sunshine and feeling rather chilly, though a much lighter wind today which will make it feel more pleasant than yesterday which was Boxing Day and was a... Monday? I think?
Top temperatures today where they should be for this time of year with 4-6c for much of the UK, though colder across Central Scotland where the snow melt is underway and milder for the Southwest peninsular.
Overnight tonight and the clear skies will allow mist/fog patches to develop across much of England and Wales. Temperatures down to -4 or perhaps a tad lower in some spots. Fog developing too across much of Southern and Eastern England with the additional risk of freezing fog for parts of East Anglia.
More tomorrow which is... errr... well, we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
