A colder west/north-westerly air stream will be affecting many parts of the UK today in the wake of a cold front that moved south during yesterday and last night. We are expecting another weather system to move in from the west during tomorrow, Easter Day, before colder air returns from the north on Easter Monday as high pressure builds again, this high then likely to dominate the weather for much of next week.
Easter Saturday dawns on a bright and chilly note for much of the country and there is some early frost across parts of northern Britain. However there will be plenty of sunshine around and although clouds will tend to bubble up as we go through the day, many areas will remain dry with some bright or sunny spells. There will be a couple of exceptions though, firstly there is a lot of cloud across the south and southwest of England and Wales this morning and this may linger for much of the day. Secondly, we have some showers affecting parts of Scotland this morning, these falling as snow over the mountains, and a few scattered showers may affect other northern and western regions for a time today but not everywhere will catch them. Maximum temperatures today will be in the range of 9°C to 12°C for most, perhaps a degree or so higher in brighter parts of the south.
Many places become dry with long clear spells this evening and into tonight and this will allow temperatures to fall away with some ground frost in places. However later in the night temperatures will tend to lift again as cloud moves in from the west with outbreaks of rain moving into many western regions. This rain continues to push eastwards tomorrow across more central regions with the far north seeing just a few showers whilst southern counties of England once again look like seeing very little, if any, rainfall, so the dry spell continues here with much of next week also looking dry as pressure rises again.
