Another very warm day is in store for southern parts of Britain but a cold front approaching from the northwest will be edging slowly south-eastwards during the next day or so to introduce cooler and fresher conditions. This front looks likes becoming slow-moving over southern regions during the weekend albeit as a rather weak affair and the very warm continental air will never be too far away from the far south and southeast and this could bring the risk of some thundery rain to the far southeast during the second half of the weekend.
It's a warm start to Friday then in many areas with temperatures widely in the mid to high teens. There is plenty of dry weather around with some good sunny spells towards the south and east of the country, but for northern and western regions there is a lot more in the way of cloud, this cloud thick enough to bring some showery rain in places. This band of cloud with increasingly patchy rain sinks slowly southeast today, but the far south and southeast of England will remain fine with plenty of sunshine and here is where the highest temperatures will again be found with highs of 26°C to 29°C. Elsewhere temperatures will generally be a touch down on yesterday with highs in the low twenties thanks to the increased cloud cover, but for Scotland and Northern Ireland maximums will be in the high teens at best despite more in the way of brightness developing later.
The cloud and odd patch of rain becomes slow-moving over central and southern counties of England tonight but this cloud will hold temperatures up with another muggy night in store as temperatures drop no lower than the mid-high teens. Further north there will be some clearer intervals and in the cooler, fresher air temperatures will drop back down into single figures in places. Into the weekend then and there will be a fair amount of cloud around tomorrow with some scattered showers over central and southern regions but for many it will be a mostly dry day with some sunny periods.
