Although low pressure has moved away from our shores it has left a legacy of a rather slack weather pattern across many parts of Britain and Ireland with lighter winds but as high pressure is unable to take control then further scattered heavy showers will break out again today. We then return to breezy and wet conditions from the west during tomorrow as the next Atlantic low pressure system moves in keeping the changeable theme going.
Back to today and the best of the dry and fine weather will once more be found across southern and south-eastern regions of England where another mostly dry day with sunny spells is expected. There is still the small risk of the odd shower, but the shower risk will be higher further to the north and west across much of the rest of the country. Already feeding into western regions, these showers break out more widely as we go through the day, some of the showers bringing some locally heavy downpours with a risk of hail and thunder, and with lighter winds they will be slower moving too so there could be some lengthy downpours in places, but as always some areas will miss out and see little, if any, rain. Top temperatures will be in the range of 18°C to 22°C for many, but sunnier parts of the southeast will again be a touch warmer.
Scattered showers will gradually die out tonight allowing some clear spells to develop across the north and east which will mean a cool night as temperatures drop back into single figures in places. However across Ireland, Wales and southwest England cloud will thicken as we go through the night with outbreaks of rain pushing in from the west, and this rain pushes further northeast during tomorrow, the rain heavy in places and accompanied by brisk winds. The far north and east will remain mostly dry and bright for much of the day though, and brighter conditions will follow into the southwest later in the day.
