"I heard it was going to turn warmer this week?" Yeah, well... It'll turn milder as winds swing around to the Southwest, but we will still have a couple of frontal systems coming through later in the week. "I heard that it was going to turn drier this week?" Yeah, well.. It'll certainly turn drier as a ridge comes in from the West, but some fronts coming in from the Atlantic mid week will bring some rain for some areas.
Do you see what type of week we have in store? Make no bones about it, an improvement in the weather for many areas this week as we lose the nagging Northerly component to the wind this week as high pressure tries to ridge in from the Southwest and the low pressure system across Scandinavia which has been the main component of the showers and cooler weather drifts away to the East.
Instead, we have a weak ridge of high pressure which will reduce the shower risk across all areas for the start of the week before it gives way to a weather system which edges in from the Atlantic for the middle part of the week. Some rain and wind in store for Northern and Western areas for Wednesday, some of this could be on the heavy side, especially is the frontal system becomes slow moving across parts of Southwest England and Wales during the early part of Thursday. Towards the end of the week and it looks as though the Atlantic once again gets the upper hand and we see more organised bands of rain coming in from the West.
Little point in looking further ahead at the moment. Vast amounts of energy in the Atlantic in the form of tropical systems Jose, Maria and Lee are playing havoc with many of the global models in the medium to longer term and until all these are resolved then the models will continue to flip between a settled end to September and an unsettled one.
