So, another year rattles through and we look towards the bright new dawn of 2018 which brings a rather busy schedule here at Metcheck in terms of the weather, site development as well as numerous events which take place throughout the year.
Over the last few months we have worked hard on the site speed of Metcheck and even during peak periods we are now seeing the site retain the speed and stability which you would expect. This will continue throughout 2018 as we continue to tweak and improve the back end infrastructure on the site.
A site upgrade is planned for March 2018 which will see a slightly wider site on desktops, cleaner front page, 16 day forecast along the top of the site as well as a more mobile/tablet friendly upgrade to make pages easier to flow around.
Behind the scenes and the GHX will be upgraded in 2018 to bring in new hourly updates based on the Rapid Refresh model. Not just this, but other models will also be incorporated into the new GHX to provide what we hope will be the most accurate forecasts we have ever created.
We will of course be providing forecasts for loads of events in 2018 including the Winter Olympics, Six Nations, FIFA World Cup, Commonwealth Games as well as Wimbledon, hundreds of festivals and the Tour de France. We will also be upgrading the Red Arrows page which proved incredibly popular last year to include a map showing where they are now.
We also have plans to release two new apps for iPhone and Android which tells you of nearby rain/lightning as well as a new forecast app which will take weather forecasting and the way you view the weather into brand new territory which has never been tried before.
So, plenty to keep us busy and plenty to look forward to on the site for 2018.
