Atlantic frontal systems coming into the west will be the only blip in what is otherwise a high pressure dominated outlook for the next few days. These fronts will try and push further eastwards over the weekend, but will not get very far and instead end up virtually stationary across northern and western regions of the country bringing more cloud and a little rain or drizzle here. Otherwise, September is set to start off on a fine and settled note for most places.
For this morning it is a bright but rather chilly start to the day and once again there is an early touch of ground frost across rural northern parts. There are also one or two mist and fog patches around but these will readily clear and then for many places it will be another fine and dry day with spells of sunshine. Some cloud will bubble up at times, and the odd shower could break out almost anywhere but most places will miss them. Cloud will more generally thicken across Ireland, Northern Ireland, western Scotland and the far southwest of England during the day though, this cloud thick enough to bring some rain and drizzle into parts of Ireland. After that cool start, temperatures will pick up with maximums a touch warmer than they were yesterday, ranging from 14°C to 17°C in the north and west to a warmer 19°C to 22°C towards the southeast.
Western regions remain rather cloudy tonight with a continued risk of a little rain or drizzle at times, but elsewhere it will be a fine and dry night. Temperatures generally won't be as cool as they have been over the last night or two, but central and eastern regions will see lows into single figures whilst it is milder and muggier under the cloud in the west. The weekend then continues on a very similar note with cloudier skies bringing a little rain or drizzle to the north and west at times whilst southern and eastern regions are sunnier and warmer.
