Mild south/south-easterly winds continue to affect many parts of Britain and Ireland today ahead of a low pressure system approaching from the west. This area of low pressure will be bringing rain into the west today though and during the next couple of days this system will push east bringing rain to many areas and a rather unsettled midweek period.
It's a rather misty and murky start to Tuesday with some fog patches having formed overnight, especially over higher regions. Some patchy rain and drizzle is also affecting some areas, especially towards the north and west. As we head through the day skies will tend to brighten across central and eastern regions with the best of any sunshine to be found towards the east and southeast of England. Meanwhile, out towards the west cloud will tend to thicken as the winds freshen with outbreaks of rain moving in across much of Ireland and Northern Ireland, the rain locally on the heavy side and reaching parts of Wales and western England by dusk. Temperatures will once again be on the warm side with maximums in the range of 15°C to 18°C in brighter parts of the east and southeast, but values won't be as mild in the west.
It will then be a mild night across all regions with no frost worries as cloud and freshening winds continue to push east bringing outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain with them. However, the extreme east may well stay dry for much of the night and somewhat drier and clearer conditions will follow into western areas later in the night allowing for it to turn rather chilly over Ireland with a risk of some frost. Wednesday will then be a changeable day with low pressure in charge bringing showers or longer spells of rain to many regions with the exception of northeast Scotland and parts of Ireland where it will be drier and brighter.
