Although there will still be some showers across some parts of Britain and Ireland this morning, it is a generally quieter day of weather thanks to a ridge of high pressure trying to build in. The next few days see a quieter regime trying to take over, but for the northwest there will be some more wet and windy weather to get through first.
Tuesday is dawning bright and breezy in many areas and although most places are frost free, it has turned chilly overnight in parts of the north. There will be plenty of sunshine around though and for most places it will be a dry day with good spells of sunshine helping to lift temperatures into the mild category quite widely with maximums in the range of 11°C to 15°C. However, there are a good scattering of showers clearing eastwards across central and eastern regions this morning, some of these on the heavy side, and whilst this risk of scattered showers will continue throughout the day, they will tend to mostly die out by this afternoon with many places ending the day dry. However, thickening cloud will bring outbreaks of heavy rain into western Ireland by dusk as the southerly winds freshen.
A dry night with clear spells follows across the south and east of the UK which will allow temperatures to dip back down into single figures. Further to the north and west the milder, wetter and windier it will be with rain affecting many parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, some of this rain reaching parts of Wales and northern England later in the night. This takes us into wet and windy Wednesday for north-western parts of Britain and Ireland but elsewhere there will be a lot of dry and mild weather around again tomorrow although cloud amounts will be variable at times.
