A ridge of high pressure will bring a mostly fine day to much of Britain and Ireland, however, a weakening cold front across northern Britain will bring cloudier skies and the odd spot of rain or drizzle here whilst the odd heavy shower could break out across parts of southern Britain this afternoon.
Many places are starting off on a fine note this morning with plenty of sunshine around and variable amounts of cloud. The thickest cloud can be found across the north and west of Scotland where outbreaks of rain and drizzle are falling, most persistent across western parts of Scotland. Some thicker cloud across central and southern England is also providing the odd shower, but for most places Wednesday will be dry with plenty of sunshine. The cloud and rain in the northwest will tend to sink a little further south with clearer conditions coming into the far north, whilst the shower risk across central, southern England will tend to increase this afternoon and if you catch one it could be heavy. Temperatures today will range from 16°C to 21°C in many places, but in the London region highs of 23°C are possible and feeling warm with light winds.
Cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue to edge a little further south across Scotland and Northern Ireland tonight, otherwise for most other regions any evening showers will die out to leave dry night with long clear spells which will allow temperatures to drop back into single figures in the north. It remains a touch milder in the south but there will be one or two mist or fog patches forming, especially in rural regions. No huge changes are expected as we head into tomorrow, but cloudier, cooler conditions in the north will edge a little further south whilst the south of the country is mostly fine apart from the odd shower breaking out.
