Firstly, all of the team here at Metcheck would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter. It may be a rather different Easter this year but we hope that you manage to make the most of it. As far as the weather is concerned there are some big changes on the way in the next 24 hours or so as winds change direction and pick up to bring a very different feel to the weather for Easter Monday.
Easter Day is dawning fine and dry across many parts of England and Wales although there is more in the way of cloud across northern and western districts. Most of the cloud, however, can be found across much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland where showery outbreaks of rain are developing, particularly across Ireland, Northern Ireland and the far north of Scotland. These outbreaks of rain will tend to sink southwards today, turning more persistent in places, but clearer and colder conditions will move into northern Scotland. Meanwhile, for many parts of England and Wales the fine start will give way to an increasing risk of showers breaking out, the showers turning heavy in places with a risk of hail and thunder, but not everywhere will catch one. It will become very warm again towards southeast England with temperatures of 22°C to 25°C, but generally it will be turning colder from the north with values in single figures across the far north.
That colder air continues to sink south tonight as the north-easterly winds freshen up. Showers will tend to become confined to more southern and eastern regions during the course of the night as clearer skies in the north allow for some frost to form here. This takes us into a cold and breezy Easter Monday with temperatures in the north and east stuck in single figures. However, with high pressure building in there will be plenty of fine and dry weather to be had with any early showers in the south easing.
