High pressure sitting close to the east of the UK today will keep many central and eastern regions fine and settled with warmer temperatures thanks to lighter winds. However, a weak frontal system out to the west will bring more in the way of cloud with it along with some scattered showers, some of which may turn heavy with some thunder later.
For this morning and once any early fog clears it will be a fine sunny morning for many central and eastern districts of the UK with the sunshine lasting into the afternoon for many although some cloud will build up during the course of the day. Generally though the cloudier skies will be confined to western regions including much of Ireland, Northern Ireland, southwest England, west Wales and western Scotland with that cloud tending to spread further north. The cloud will be thick enough to bring a scattering of showers across western regions although drier and brighter conditions will move into the southwest later. It will be a warmer feeling day for most places with top temperatures ranging from 18°C to 22°C, and perhaps a degree or so warmer in the London region, but the far north will be cooler.
Later on today there is a small risk of some isolated heavy, thundery showers breaking out, most likely over central and western regions of England and Wales and these could linger into the evening before dying out overnight. Many northern and western regions will hold onto a lot of cloud tonight with some showers in the north and, later, the southwest. Skies will be clearer elsewhere but no matter where you are it will be a much milder night compared to recent nights. This takes us into a warm day tomorrow with sunny spells developing for many areas, but outbreaks of rain with cooler conditions will affect the north whilst some heavy showers could break out towards the southwest.
