Turning Warmer And More SettledAdded : Saturday at 11:49 Some parts of central and eastern England have seen a very wet few days with some areas having seen between two and three inches of rain since Wednesday. We have further showers today but then the weather looks set to settle down again with high pressure bringing increasingly fine and warm weather as we go through the coming week making for some very good growing conditions but also high pollen levels.
Let's take a look at the synoptic chart for today:
Low pressure is in charge for the start of the weekend with those fronts across the north bringing a cloudy and damp start to the weekend whilst the occluded front moving in from the west will trigger some heavy showers as it pushes eastwards.
However as we go through the next few days pressure builds from the south and southwest and eventually a cut-off high looks set to settle over or close to the UK and Ireland. The process starts as soon as Sunday with pressure rising over Germany:
However that Atlantic low (986mb) out to the west and its associated warm front will bring more cloud and a little rain to the far west:
You could be forgiven for thinking that low out to the west will scupper our prospects of seeing some fine weather but if we look at Monday's forecast synoptic chart we can see how although a front is pushing into the northwest, the low has moved north and is slowly filling:
A look at the jet stream for next week shows how the jet is starting to shift northwards which is what you want to see if fine and warm weather is your thing:
Here's the corresponding synoptic chart for Thursday:
High pressure slap bang over the country meaning plenty of fine and sunny weather with temperatures on the rise and approaching the mid-twenties in places:
Always remaining a touch cooler around the coasts though with sea breezes developing and perhaps some coastal mist or fog patches.
