Bore da, at least it started out well with the sun shining brightly and very few clouds and a light breeze. We escaped any frost and the sun warmed everything up nicely, now there is a high cloud cover with the only clear bits to be seen out to sea and the wind has picked up again. More rain forecast for later, no surprise there.

An hour ago there was not a cloud in the sky and the sun was starting to warm things up. Now there is a light grey overcast with not one patch of blue sky to be seen and it feels much chillier that the 4c registered. The temperatures forecast for the next few days are much the same - when will we get some nice warm weather ?

Good morning folks... A bright, mostly sunny and dry start to today. A nippy 5Β° whe I went on my 'paper round' but that has improved somewhat, to 8Β° currently, despite the light "Mr.Northerly" (5Β°) trying to keep things chilly..!
The barometer is up to 1024 mBar, humidity is at 70% and there's 5 oktas of cloud cover, so quite pleasant at the moment. Visibility is at my maximum range of 7 miles (surrounded by hills here !) and the air quality is good, with an index of '40'...
...and on this day, in 1949, the first 'Bob-a-Job week' began when 440,000 British Scouts started a nationwide campaign to raise the Β£22,000 needed to cover the deficits of the Scout movement. In the first year Β£60,000 was raised. The variety of jobs undertaken included a 13 year old who spent four hours cleaning the silver at 10 Downing Street. Edited : Thu 18 Apr - 10:10

Frost has thawed and it is looking much more inviting out there. Still very pleased the radiators came on at 8am though. Its a cold morning after that overnight chill but the sun is making progress through the windows to warm up the conservatory. Rain forecast for tonight unfortunately ! Off to Liverpool to watch Andre Rieu Concert this evening. Very excited.

Whoah! How clever is this? The Metcheck Thunderstorm Tracker Satellite allows you to see the developing storms across Western Europe and tells you whether they are growing or decaying. Every 15 minutes we take a snapshot of the cloud cover then measure the temperature and height of the clouds and show you whether the area of clouds are developing into thunderstorms and what direction they are moving in.

You probably hear a lot about the Jet Stream in the news. It's either too far North or too far South. The jet stream is identified as winds at 300mb (during Winter) and 200mb (during Summer). It is these winds which are responsible for driving and developing weather systems across the Atlantic.
