Hello again. We have had a cloudy spell with even a few bits of showery rain. However, it does seem to be brightening again and I’m hopeful that this afternoon will now become dry and with decent sunny spells. Still quite cold.

Good afternoon folks... I guess that we had one or two light showers in our neck-of-the-woods last night, as it was a little damp when going to get the papers this morning. No seen any rain since but it is cloudy and looking a little threatening off to the North East and there looks to be some showers to the North and East of London..
Our sheltered thermometer is the most optimistic, showing 9.3°c, whilst the one in the light Nor'Easterly breeze is just 8.1°. The barometer has dropped a little to 1022mBar, 100% cloud cover, 80% humidity and ~5 miles visibility. Air quality is good, with an index of '35'....
... and on this day, (the feast of St. George Day) in 1348, saw the founding of the "Order of the Garter" by King Edward III. It is the highest order of chivalry, or knighthood, existing in England. The order is dedicated to the image and arms of St. George, as England's patron saint.

“Ooops - Got carried away with the St. George stuff and didn't alter the temperature drop-down box from 7° to 9°...
... and as we know, we can't edit them boxes either - apologies.!”

With the report of :Another dismal day so far - complete overcast with a sneaky northerly breeze. However it is not raining YET although the ground is still too wet for gardening and the grass is to wet to cut. Ive just filled the bird feeders and have attached a pic of one satisfied customer.

Bore da, scowling at the clouds worked yesterday the threatened rain fell behind the hills. This morning is much brighter with high hazy cloud allowing the sun to shine, the breeze is chilly so no outside painting this morning sitting in our garden is a pleasure with the scent of the lilac trees in full bloom, maybe later.

A hazy sun is trying it's best to climb through the massing cloud but I fear we may be in for another chilly day here in Wrexham. Yesterday was practically like Winter with cold wind and an icy feel. Today looks brighter but that sun has no heat in it yet and the wind chill factor wins every time. Bowling again this afternoon just on the outskirts of town so hopefully it stays dry which is more that can be hoped for this coming weekend ! From Friday onwards it appears to be very wet and windy and cold and to top that I am heading north to Cockermouth where it is always 2 degrees less than down here. Hurry up Summer... you are a long time coming. I need you for York races.

“Good luck with the bowling Pete and indeed York Races. I used to bowl on Woodhouse Moor in the school lunch breaks - mind you this was about 60 years ago. WE had some games against the "old lad"s who were regulars - they seemed tickled to be up against school boys.”

Welcome to the more interactive side of Metcheck. Every day Metcheckers up and down the country tap their barometers, rub their thermometers and submit their weather reports in to us.
If you have any interesting weather where you are right now, or simply fancy telling everyone what it's like outside your window then send in a weather report to us using the form below.
To add a weather report is quick and easy. Simply fill in the form above. You don't have to add all the weather variables if you don't want to, but at least just let us know what the weather is like there.
You will then receive an email allowing you to publish your weather report live on Metcheck.
Once your post is on the site you can edit it by clicking on the blue EDIT button to the bottom right of the post. Note, you can only edit and see these buttons on your own posts and nobody elses.

Whoah! How clever is this? The Metcheck Thunderstorm Tracker Satellite allows you to see the developing storms across Western Europe and tells you whether they are growing or decaying. Every 15 minutes we take a snapshot of the cloud cover then measure the temperature and height of the clouds and show you whether the area of clouds are developing into thunderstorms and what direction they are moving in.

You probably hear a lot about the Jet Stream in the news. It's either too far North or too far South. The jet stream is identified as winds at 300mb (during Winter) and 200mb (during Summer). It is these winds which are responsible for driving and developing weather systems across the Atlantic.
