Good morning all π!! It was lovely and sunny a couple of hours ago but it's now totally overcast and is still cold. Showers are forecast for later so I'd better get busy in the garden before the rain arrives. The wind has dropped to a gentle and chilly breeze. The pesky jet stream needs to move up a bit so it can warm up. We live in hope π. Have a great Good Friday folks π π π€

A clear morning rain-wise but still quite cloudy and overcast. Seems to be cool with a slight breeze but I have put a load of washing in anyway in the hope that rain stops away for the day. Cannot get onto ventusky to see the hourly forecast as there seems to be a system error. Anyone else got this ?

YeeHaa - not a cloud in the sky, the sun is shining and there is a gentle southerly breeze. According to the forecast this spell of almost balmy weather is not expected to last as heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected later this afternoon. Still things are looking up so let us hope we get some pleasant weather over the Bank Holiday. I escaped from Wetherby Races yesterday on 80p down which is a major achievement - not quite Shoshana style so I've put the air fryer on hold !!

Whoah! How clever is this? The Metcheck Thunderstorm Tracker Satellite allows you to see the developing storms across Western Europe and tells you whether they are growing or decaying. Every 15 minutes we take a snapshot of the cloud cover then measure the temperature and height of the clouds and show you whether the area of clouds are developing into thunderstorms and what direction they are moving in.

You probably hear a lot about the Jet Stream in the news. It's either too far North or too far South. The jet stream is identified as winds at 300mb (during Winter) and 200mb (during Summer). It is these winds which are responsible for driving and developing weather systems across the Atlantic.
