We have been talking about it for a few days now and the next day or two will finally see much milder air making its way north and east across Britain and Ireland although with this mild air will come increasingly changeable conditions as low pressure takes charge.
Many central and eastern regions are dawning fine and chilly this morning with some frost around but it is much milder towards the southwest where a band of rain is pushing north-eastwards across Ireland, Wales and southwest England. This rain band will continue to move north and east today, affecting northern and eastern regions of England by this afternoon although it will be weakening by this stage.
To the north it will remain mostly dry if cloudy and little, if any, rain is expected across southeast England. Meanwhile, drier and brighter conditions will follow the rain band into much of Ireland and south-western Britain this morning but further spells of rain, locally heavy, will then push in from the southwest this afternoon, particularly across Ireland.
It will be another rather chilly day in the east although temperatures of 5°C or 6°C will be higher than of late, but in the southwest it will be much milder with maximums here of 12°C to 14°C although the brisk winds will take the edge off those values.
That increasingly mild and wet weather will extend north and east across much of Britain and Ireland tonight with some locally heavy rainfall, especially over higher ground, but again rainfall towards the southeast of England is not expected to amount to much. This takes us into a very mild day tomorrow with blustery south-westerly winds bringing showers or longer spells of rain to many places.
