It should come as no surprise that we are expecting the weather to return to something which we might expect for the start of November next week. The models are a little uncertain of exactly how cold the weather will turn, but there are three things which will probably happen :-
1 - Even the most hardened of you who have braved switching on the heating so far this Autumn will probably be flicking that switch at some point
2 - You will be looking around the for your ice scraper at the bottom of your boot in the car along with old sandwich boxes and shoes still covered in sand from your Summer activities
3 - Everyone will get too excited
So, a little reality check in order from the voice of reason... We are expecting winds to swing around to the North towards the end of next week, perhaps a brief cold shot across the UK this Sunday too as high pressure builds to the West. Whoever came up with the phrase "When the North wind doth blow, there shall be snow" would get a smack from the Metcheck forecasters as it's one of the most unreliable wind directions for snow away from high ground in Scotland and Northern England as well as Northern facing coasts. For most of us it just means someone will tell us to "put another layer on then".
If you take a look at the discussion today you will be able to see a little more information on what we are expecting and when. We will be monitoring this over the next few days (as well as trying to find that ice scraper, but have a feeling we used it for scraping off some old paint in July?). Keep up to date with the forecasts over the next few days as any type of colder weather usually brings more hysteria than disruption in the UK and we will keep you abreast with the latest model output and what is most likely to happen, as opposed to what we actually want to happen.
