High pressure is set to dominate the weather across Britain and Ireland throughout the upcoming week although there will be some subtle changes in the day-to-day weather with more of an east/north-easterly wind picking up to bring the risk of cool and misty conditions to eastern coasts whilst north-western regions will finally begin to join in with the fine weather as the high becomes centred close to the north.
For today those north-western regions are being plagued by a frontal system again and so there is a lot of cloud around across many parts of the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue to affect many northern and western districts of these areas throughout today, the rain heaviest and most persistent towards the far west. Meanwhile for much of England and Wales it will be another mostly fine day once early mist, fog and low cloud burns away although some coastal regions may remain cool and misty. There will be some cloud bubbling up however and during this afternoon there is the potential for one or two thundery showers to break out, most likely over central and south-western regions of England up into Wales, but most places will miss these and stay fine. Temperatures will pick up to maximums of 20°C to 23°C across central inland regions, but always staying that bit cooler around coasts and in the wetter north and west.
Any thundery showers will tend to die out tonight along with the rain in the northwest, but there is a low risk of the odd thundery shower moving into southeast England later in the night. Otherwise it will be a dry night with clear spells but mist, fog and low cloud will again develop. Tuesday will then be mostly fine and warm for many areas with even the northwest seeing an improvement on recent days, but once again the odd thundery shower could break out towards southern regions.
