The deep area of low pressure that brought yesterday's wet and very windy weather to many areas is now slowly pulling away to the northeast so for many areas it will be another changeable day of weather but with the strongest winds transferring further south. Although pressure is set to rise over Scandinavia next week, the outlook for our part of the world remains predominantly unsettled as Atlantic low pressure systems continue to head our way.
It has been a windy night across most regions with blustery showers streaming in from the west and this theme continues today for many. There will be some subtle changes, however, with winds across more northern regions tending to ease down during the course of the day meaning that the showers will also tend to become less frequent. It will remain windy in the south though and these winds will continue to blow in plenty of blustery showers, the showers heavy at times and also merging into longer spells of rain. There will be some bright or sunny spells in-between the showers, the best of these probably coming across parts of southeast Scotland and northeast England, but also over parts of southwest England with one or two spots getting away with a mainly dry day. Temperatures will range from a rather chilly 4°C to 7°C in the north to a milder 10°C to 13°C further to the south and southwest.
It remains windy in the south tonight with showers or longer periods of rain continuing to affect many parts of England, Wales, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. For parts of northern England and Scotland it will be drier with clear spells allowing for some frost to form, but some showers will filter down from the north, these turning wintry over higher ground. Tomorrow sees colder air in the north edging further south with showers tending to become lighter and less frequent and as the winds ease so frost will develop widely after dark, particularly in the north.
