Lots going on with the weather over the 24 hours with plenty to keep an eye on. This all thanks to a trough of low pressure pushing eastwards across England and Wales bringing a band of rain, sleet and snow. Conditions are set to be very marginal though so pinpointing exactly where the snow will fall is difficult with some places ending up with rain whilst others could wake up to a winter wonderland scene tomorrow morning.
It's a bright and frosty start to Tuesday for many places with the lowest temperatures across inland parts of Scotland. Showers are affecting many northern and western regions, these often heavy and wintry, and there's a band of more persistent rain developing across Ireland and coming into Wales and southwest England. This band of rain will continue to push eastwards today so it will turn increasingly cloudy across England and Wales as that rain approaches. Snow is expected to develop across higher parts of Wales and northwest England, and the snow risk then extends across parts of the Midlands into eastern and south-eastern England later on today but keep an eye on the latest updates as it really is a fine line between rain and snow. Meanwhile, for much of Scotland it will be bright with further wintry showers in the north and east, with these clearer conditions moving in across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and western England later on.
The rain and snow will gradually clear southeast England and East Anglia tonight, the snow perhaps giving a few cm's in places, with clearer conditions following although wintry showers will continue to affect northern and western coastal regions. A widespread, hard frost will form and icy stretches are expected to form widely so take extra care if you're out and about. Tomorrow is then set to be a day of sunny spells and wintry showers, the showers always heaviest and most frequent towards the north and west.
