The new working week starts off with a weakening warm front lying across western regions of the country but away from this most areas are under a ridge of high pressure which will bring plenty of dry and bright weather for the start of the week.
There's some mist, fog and low cloud around this morning, especially across some central and eastern regions of the UK but not exclusively so. This will gradually lift during the morning with many places seeing some sunny spells developing and then it will be a mostly dry and bright day. The odd shower may break out over parts of eastern England this afternoon, but these will be very well scattered with most places staying dry. The exception to the mainly fine conditions comes across western regions where cloudy skies dominate with outbreaks of rain and drizzle affecting parts of western Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, west Wales and southwest England. These damp conditions will continue sporadically for much of the day, but western Scotland should become mainly dry by this afternoon as that rain band edges back west a touch. After a chilly start, temperatures will pick up in the sunnier areas with maximums of 15°C to 19°C, but it will stay cooler in the cloudier and damper regions.
Western regions hold onto a fair amount of cloud and some further occasional outbreaks of rain and drizzle tonight with heavier and more persistent rain arriving across much of Ireland and Northern Ireland during the night. For the rest of the country it will be a mostly dry night with clear spells allowing for temperatures to fall low enough for a touch of ground frost in rural regions and for some mist, fog and low cloud to form in places again. Tomorrow then sees more of the same with many areas away from the damper west seeing plenty of dry and bright weather and temperatures recovering after a cold start.
