The changeable theme continues again today as low pressure continues to influence our weather. This does not mean it's unsettled for everyone though as once again some areas will see a fair amount of dry and bright weather whilst others end up with some persistent rain or showers.
There are two areas of rain to watch today. The first is affecting western parts of the Republic of Ireland into parts of Northern Ireland which will tend to become more showery as we go through the day although some of the showers could become heavy and thundery by this afternoon. The other area of rain is pushing northwards across the North Sea, affecting eastern coastal districts of England briefly this morning before pushing northwards across eastern and north-eastern parts of Scotland, including the Northern Isles, during the course of the day. Elsewhere and for many it will be a day of sunny spells, but some scattered showers will break out, especially across Wales and southwest England where they could also turn heavy with some thunder. Maximum temperatures today will range from 12°C to 15°C in the north to 17°C to 21°C in the south.
Showers will tend to become confined to the far northwest tonight and as skies clear and winds ease so it will turn rather chilly with temperatures dropping down into single figures widely. It will remain milder in the south though thanks to a freshening easterly wind which will bring outbreaks of rain into central, southern and south-western parts of England and Wales during the second half of the night. This rain pushes northwards tomorrow with some very wet weather expected over parts of Wales and southwest England, but many parts of Scotland will remain mostly dry and bright for much of the day bar the odd shower.
