We can't promise you unbroken sunshine and hot temperatures but on the whole the weather is behaving itself today with a ridge of high pressure trying to take control in the wake of the cold front that sunk southwards yesterday. This front will be lingering close to the far south and southwest for the next 24 hours before pushing north across western regions later tomorrow.
What's left of that cold front is bringing a mostly cloudy morning to southern counties of England and Wales, with some rain and drizzle in places, especially across south-eastern parts of England. These areas will hold onto a fair amount of cloud for a while today but skies will tend to brighten from the north although the far southeast and far southwest may remain mostly cloudy. Otherwise for many places it will be dry with plenty of sunny spells around for much of the day. Some cloud will bubble up with a few showers breaking out, particularly across northeast Scotland, but many areas will miss these. It will be feeling fresher in the south but temperatures will mostly be close to normal so feeling pleasant enough in maximums of 20°C to 24°C, always staying a touch cooler in the far north and northeast though.
Any evening showers will die out to leave much of the country with a dry and fresh night and clear spells will mean that temperatures drop back into single figures in rural spots, with perhaps a touch of ground frost in the Scottish Glens. It will be milder towards the south and especially the southwest where there will be more cloud around with a little light rain across parts of southwest Ireland. This rain may turn more persistent here tomorrow otherwise for many places the new working week will start dry with variable amounts of cloud and some sunny spells although the odd shower may break out in the south.
