Welcome to November! Yes, the eleventh month of 2019 is here and with a change of month comes a change in the weather as low pressure returns across all parts of the country to bring showers, longer spells of rain and strong winds over the coming days.
That change is already well underway this morning with many parts of the country starting off on a milder note compared to recent mornings thanks to cloud and outbreaks of rain pushing in from the west and southwest. The far north of Scotland is bright and chilly first thing, but it will soon cloud over here with rain moving in during the day. Meanwhile, further south that rain will clear to the east this morning to leave a fair amount of cloud and some limited brighter spells before freshening winds and heavy showers follow on from the west during this afternoon, initially affecting Ireland before spreading into parts of Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England by this evening. Despite all this it will be a milder day with maximum temperatures ranging from 7°C to 11°C in the north and 12°C to 16°C further south although winds will strengthen in the southwest later on.
It will be mild everywhere tonight as showers or longer spells of rain push their way north-eastwards across many regions, the showers often heavy and blustery as the winds become quite strong. However, we will be watching developments closely towards the southwest as the deepening low responsible brings the risk of severe westerly gales to southernmost parts of Ireland, Wales and southwest England where winds could gust up to 70 MPH in exposed spots. This area of very strong winds then affects other southern counties of England tomorrow along with squally outbreaks of rain, but further north it will be drier and brighter with the exception of northern Scotland where it is likely to be wet and windy.
