High pressure continues to dominate the weather for many parts of Britain and Ireland today but with its centre shifting to lie to the east and northeast of the country so cooler onshore winds will affect eastern coastal regions with the far north of Scotland also on the chilly side due to being north of a decaying cold front over southern Scotland.
It's a fine start to Thursday across many parts of England and Wales with any early mist or fog patches soon clearing to leave another mostly fine day with plenty of sunshine and only some patchy cloud drifting around at times. In the sunshine it will turn warm with top temperatures in the range of 20°C to 23°C, but it will be cooler down eastern coasts thanks to an onshore breeze developing. Out to the west and it's a rather cloudy and misty start for much of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland but skies will brighten up here with some sunny spells developing helping to lift temperatures into the mid-teens. Meanwhile, for much of Scotland and northernmost parts of northern England, there will be a lot of cloud around again today, the cloud thick enough to bring a little rain, especially towards the far northwest later, but the far north and northeast will remain mostly fine although it will be a lot cooler here with temperatures in the range of 8°C to 12°C.
Cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will push north-eastwards across northern parts of Scotland tonight otherwise for most other regions it will be a mainly dry night with clear spells but temperatures won't drop too far with some parts of the south and west seeing values hold up in double figures. Good Friday sees high pressure continuing to sit close to the east of the country bringing plenty of fine and warm weather to the south but scattered showers will break out across more northern and western regions, these showers becoming more widespread during the Easter weekend.
