Pressure is now falling across much of the country as the area of high pressure that has given the fine and warm weather to many regions over the last few days slips away. We are watching for an area of low pressure to form over south-western Britain by tomorrow bringing the risk of some heavy and possibly thundery showers before cooler air sweeps down from the north for a time early next week.
Back to this morning and for many parts of England and Wales it is another fine start to the day with plenty of sunshine around. However, for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland there is much more in the way of cloud around, this cloud thick enough to bring some rain and drizzle in places. Any rain will tend to die out this morning with some bright or sunny spells developing in many areas, but further outbreaks of rain are expected to arrive across the fair northwest of Scotland later on today. Meanwhile, for many parts of England and Wales it will be another fine and mostly sunny day with temperatures rising to maximums of 22°C to 26°C, but the far north and northwest of the UK and Ireland will be cooler whilst cooler sea breezes will develop around coasts elsewhere.
Later on today there will be an increasing risk of some localised heavy and thundery showers breaking out across parts of central and southern England and Wales although many places will miss these and stay dry. Those showers may well linger well into this evening and tonight as they drift slowly north-eastwards, but for many places it will be a mostly dry night with variable amounts of cloud and some clear spells. Outbreaks of rain will move into parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland during the course of the night, affecting parts of southwest Scotland and northwest England, and these will sink south across western areas tomorrow. Meanwhile, some heavy, thundery showers will break out across England and Wales during Easter Day but colder conditions will be moving into the north ready to sink south across most regions for Easter Monday.
