The weekend weather continues along the same lines as how the working week ended with low pressure to the south of the country and its associated troughs bringing the risk of showers to central and southern regions of the UK and Ireland whilst the north remains mostly dry and more settled thanks to high pressure sitting to the north of Scotland.
Once again this morning it is a generally cloudy and muggy start to the day across central and southern parts of England and Wales with scattered showers continuing to feed in from the east, some of the showers heavy with some thunder. For much of the rest of Britain and Ireland it is a dry start to the day although there is a fair amount of low cloud and mist around, especially towards eastern and north-eastern regions. North-eastern coasts will remain rather cool and gloomy again today but skies will tend to brighten up elsewhere with the best of the sunshine once more set to be across western parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northwest England. Further to the south and once again we are expecting scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms break out although they will be hit and miss affairs with some drier and brighter interludes developing, especially towards the far south and southeast of England. Temperatures today will range from a rather cool 15°C to 18°C along northeast coasts to a warmer 22°C to 26°C elsewhere, feeling warm in the sunnier regions.
Showers and thunderstorms towards central and southern regions will tend to continue through this evening and tonight, perhaps edging a little further northwards into parts of northern England and across Ireland. To the north it will remain dry with mist and low cloud drifting back in from the northeast and it will also become drier towards the southeast of England. Tomorrow sees the best of the drier and sunnier weather affecting the northwest and southeast of the UK with scattered showers elsewhere, these turning heavy and thundery at times.
