Low pressure continues to control the weather for the end of the working week but as it slowly drifts eastwards so strong northerly winds are developing across much of the country bringing a cold feel to the day along with some wet weather to eastern counties of England.
If you're heading out first thing this morning you will notice that northerly wind, quite brisk in places but strong around exposed coasts. Those winds will continue to strengthen across eastern counties of England this morning with strong to gale force winds developing across East Anglia today. Those winds, gusting up to 60 MPH along the coast, will be accompanied by outbreaks of rain which will persist for much of the day across much of Norfolk and Suffolk so a pretty unpleasant day in store here. Otherwise, for many parts of Britain and Ireland it will be a drier and sunnier day despite the wind which will bring a few scattered showers mainly to northern and western coasts. The wind will make top temperatures of 11°C to 14°C feel cold, especially in the wetter parts of eastern England, but for sunnier parts of southern England highs of 16°C are likely with some shelter.
A cold and windy night follows although the wind will help to prevent a frost for many places. Outbreaks of rain will only slowly ease from the coast of East Anglia, but may return to coastal parts of northeast England later in the night. At the same time, some rain will flirt with the coast of southern Ireland and the far southwest of England, otherwise many places will be dry apart from the odd shower. Tomorrow will be another rather windy day, especially in the east, where further spells of rain could push back west at times, but for most places it will be mainly dry and bright if rather chilly.
