Warm and muggy continental air is still hanging on towards south-eastern parts of England today and as an area of low pressure drifts north-eastwards close to the southeast so areas of heavy and potentially thundery rain will feed up from the south. Meanwhile, it is much cooler and fresher towards the north and west with the best of the weather also to be found in these areas.
Friday is dawning fine and dry for many regions with temperatures across many parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland having dipped down into single figures overnight but they will pick up nicely in the sunshine today with only a few showers affecting the far northwest. It's warmer and muggier towards southeast England though where there is a lot of cloud around, the cloud bringing outbreaks of heavy and locally thundery rain. This rain will edge a little further north and west today across central, southern and eastern parts of England although there is still some uncertainty as to how far north and west it gets with many parts of northern and western England along with Wales remaining dry and bright. Drier conditions will also return to the far southeast for a time before the risk of further thunderstorms breaking out later.. Temperatures today will generally be in the range of 15°Cto 19°C, and ending up feeling rather cool in the wettest spots but pleasant in the sunnier areas.
Outbreaks of rain and showers, thundery in places, will slowly pull away out over the North Sea this evening and tonight to leave many areas dry. The best of the clear spells will be towards the north and west where it will be another cool night, but even for south-eastern regions it won't be quite as muggy as previous nights. This takes us into a mostly fine and dry day tomorrow with plenty of sunshine around and just the odd shower, but further rain will push north later on Saturday night and into Sunday.
