A big change in the weather is now getting under way and although today will be another fine and warm day for many, showers are starting to break out and we are expecting more in the way of rain or showers to affect many regions in the coming days as low pressure properly takes hold.
For this morning and although many places are dawning dry and bright, there are some showers affecting parts of central, southern and south-western England. Thickening cloud is also approaching the northwest of Britain and Ireland and this will be bringing showery outbreaks of rain into western Scotland, northwest Ireland and Northern Ireland during the course of the day. Otherwise for many places it will be another mostly dry day with just a few showers breaking out elsewhere and in the sunshine it will be warm again with top temperatures of 22°C to 27°C, but the north and west will again be cooler.
Later on today some of the showers towards the south and southwest, including the Channel Islands could turn locally heavy and thundery. A rather cloudy and muggy night follows for many with an increasing risk of showers breaking out and this process continues into tomorrow as low pressure winds itself up towards the southwest, sending bands of showers or longer spells of rain north and eastwards across much of the country.
