The middle of the week is starting off on a chilly note again in northern regions but towards the south changes are happening as freshening easterly winds bring increasing amounts of cloud up from the south along with showery outbreaks of rain as low pressure to the southwest starts to drift closer.
After a cold start with some patchy frost and fog, much of Scotland will see a fine and dry day with sunny spells although the sunshine will turn hazy at times. It's also a mainly dry and fine start to the day for much of northern and eastern England where it will stay mostly dry today but towards the south and west it is cloudier and windier. Showery outbreaks of rain, locally heavy and perhaps even thundery, are affecting many parts of Ireland, Wales and southwest England and these will edge further north as we go through the day, particularly across Ireland and Northern Ireland where some more persistent rain is expected, but some showers will break out over parts of western and north-western England before further showers arrive into the south and southwest later on. It will become breezy everywhere, but particularly gusty out towards the west whilst maximum temperatures today will range from 11°C to 14°C in the north and 15°C to 18°C further south but feeling cooler in those winds.
Tonight sees further showery outbreaks of rain spreading up from the south, again heaviest and most frequent towards the south and west, but some showers will make their way further north and east during the course of the night. It will be a mild and windy night everywhere and tomorrow will be another very mild day in the south with further bands of showery rain being thrown northwards by that low sitting to the southwest but there will be some brighter spells too.
