The mixed bag of weather continues as we head into the weekend with some places seeing another fine and very warm day, other places experiencing a cloudier and cooler day whilst parts of the south are brighter and warmer compared to yesterday.
We still have low pressure sitting to the south of the country but the frontal system that gave some southern regions a wet day yesterday has drifted a little further north and weakened overnight. There is still some light rain and drizzle affecting parts of Wales and the Midlands in association with this feature and as we go through the day some heavy showers may well break out over these regions. To the south it will be a drier day with some bright or sunny spells developing and as a result it will be a warmer day, but further showery rain may well push up from the south later in the day.
Meanwhile, for much of Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and northern England it will be another largely fine and sunny day once early low cloud clears. However, that low cloud will be very reluctant to clear from eastern and north-eastern coastal regions along with the Northern Isles so here it will remain rather overcast with a little light rain or drizzle at times. The warmest temperatures today will be found across western Scotland and northwest England with highs into the mid-twenties again, but it will be cooler in the east and where it remains cloudier further south.
Later on today sees some heavy rain and thunderstorms developing over northern France and these will push northwards across central and southern regions of the UK tonight bringing the risk of some torrential downpours in places once again. The north and west will again remain drier and the best of the weather will again be found in these regions tomorrow but elsewhere it will be a changeable day with showers or longer spells of rain affecting many parts of England and Wales in particular.
