Another predominantly fine and settled day is in store for many parts of Britain and Ireland today thanks to high pressure continuing to ridge in from the northeast but changes are on the way over the next few days as pressure falls from the south bringing an increasing shower risk, especially towards southern regions of the country.
With high pressure to the north and northeast then winds are coming in from the east or northeast for many regions so there is a fair amount of low cloud and mist across central and eastern Britain this morning, some of that low cloud having made its way across to parts of Wales and southwest England. However, some places are starting off sunny, especially towards the north and west, and as we go through the day that low cloud will tend to burn back to eastern coasts. There is the slightest risk of a sharp shower breaking out over southern England by this afternoon, but you really will be unlucky to catch one. Temperatures will respond well to the sunshine with maximums ranging from 19°C to 23°C quite widely, but in the south it may be a couple of degrees warmer whilst eastern coasts remain cooler with the mist and onshore breeze.
That mist and low cloud will feed back in from the North Sea across many central and eastern regions this evening and tonight, perhaps bringing a little drizzle in places, with the best of the clearer spells out towards the west. There is a risk of the odd shower breaking out in the southeast and the shower risk continues to increase tomorrow towards southern and south-western regions where they could turn heavy and thundery in places. Otherwise Friday will be another day with low cloud slowly burning off to leave many places fine although cloud amounts generally will be larger than of late.
