![Less Cold In West](/DATA/IMAGES/FRONTPAGE/METCHECK/Winter_Frost_Grass.jpg)
January so far has been a cold month and the cold weather continues into this weekend for many regions. However, less cold air is starting to move into the west and over the next few days temperatures will be slowly recovering for many although it may be early next week before some eastern areas really notice a difference.
Back to this morning and Saturday dawns cold, frosty and icy in many places with some freezing fog patches around too which may be slow to clear otherwise for many central and eastern regions of the UK it will be another largely fine and dry day with some sunshine. However, it's a slightly different story out towards the west where a band of cloud with some patchy rain and drizzle is edging in across Ireland and Northern Ireland, this cloud spreading into western parts of the UK mainland during the day bringing somewhat less cold conditions with it as brighter skies return to the far west. Temperatures today will range from 0°C to 3°C in many parts of the UK mainland, but in the west highs of 6°C to 9°C are possible.
Those cloudier skies with the odd patch of light rain and drizzle continue to spread further eastwards tonight but will start to break up as they do so so for many central and eastern districts it will be another frosty night with some mist and fog patches although temperatures generally won't be quite as low as recent nights. It will be less cold in the west and temperatures tomorrow will continue to recover somewhat although it's likely to still be on the chilly side across eastern England. There will still be a fair amount of dry weather around, if cloudier than of late, with some stubborn mist lingering on in places, but freshening winds in the west and northwest will bring some patchy rain with them.
