A Tickle From The BeastAdded : Thursday at 14:40 Remember Never Ending Story? You know, the one with that huge fluffy flying white dragon? Seriously can't remember what the plot was about or what happened in the end, but this discussion takes a look at the risk of a short lived Easterly influence to the weather early next week.
It's the sort of beast which looks at you... growls, snarls and narrows its eyes as it moves a little closer.... then it licks your face.
If you take a look at the chart for today you can see the low pressure in the North Sea with a rather keen Northerly for many :-
As you might expect we have showers running around the periphery of the system and some snow showers for Northern and Northwestern parts.
The transition happens on Saturday. Here is the fluffy white beast :-
It's a Scandinavian high and develops thanks to the low pressure near Iceland forcing the Arctic jet North. By Saturday night we have this :-
Low pressure developing on that frontal wave and pushing South across Southern England which then allows the high pressure to continue to build across Norway.
These are the temperatures :-
Into Sunday and the Easterly sort of develops across Eastern areas. This is the point where that fluffy white dragon is licking its lips and is either winking at us or has something in its eye :-
By the start of next week and the Scandi high is trying to establish a ridge across to the Azores high, but the GFS ► doesn't buy that solution. That said, the colder air is now across parts of East and Southeast England :-
Snow showers possible across Eastern areas but probably snow grains unless we can find some moisture over the next day or two.
There you go, a bit of an Easterly developing over the weekend and into next week but less bite and more of a wet sloppy kiss... Neither of which are particularly enjoyable.
