Another Changeable Week To ComeAdded : Sunday at 14:45 Rainfall totals are starting to build up in many areas following the recent wet weather and with low pressure set to dominate throughout the coming week then further rainfall can be expected. The goods news is that much of the rain this week will come in the form of showers rather than prolonged heavy rainfall so this should help to alleviate flooding worries somewhat.
Here's today's synoptic chart:
A wave feature developing along that frontal system is bringing some very heavy and persistent rainfall to parts of East Anglia this afternoon as the latest rainfall radar shows:
Reports of flooding are coming in from Norfolk and Suffolk with some roads impassable due to flood waters.
The good news is that this rain will slowly pull away with the heaviest rain clearing by this evening. Some mainly light rain and drizzle may continue into tonight, but for many areas a drier interval is on the way. However, tomorrow's synoptic chart shows that the next system has moved in from off the Atlantic courtesy of a deep low (959mb) to the northwest:
This means another band of rain will push its way eastwards, although the key difference is that it will be clear of the UK by tomorrow night:
This then leaves a relatively straightforward run of westerlies for much of the rest of the week:
Troughs will pass through on the flow bringing bands of showers at times, but there will still be some clear or sunny intervals between so it won't be a complete washout.
The next area of concern then potentially arrives later in the week as further frontal systems gather out to the west and bring back the risk of more persistent rainfall but this is something we'll monitor during the course of the week.
