Hunting For High Pressure

Yesterday we talked about how another changeable and showery week of weather lies ahead so today we are going to try and find some reasons to be optimistic if it is warmer and more settled weather that you are seeking.
Firstly, there will be some warm spells of sunshine in-between the rain and showers this week so it won't be a total wash-out, but certainly no days where we can promise that you will stay dry.
What we are looking for is for high pressure to try and build in from somewhere, and at this time of year we often look towards the Azores high for that. In fact, by Friday this is what the GFS ► is proposing:
Note though that there's still enough instability to trigger some showers, but can that high overpower things? The answer looks to be no on this occasion:
Low pressure back with a vengeance next weekend if the latest GFS ► is to be believed.
Does the ECMWF ► model offer more hope? Well, this model also shows high pressure ridging in for the end of the working week:
But is aligned with GFS ► in that low pressure is back next weekend:
By day 10 it remains showery, but there are hints of the Azores high trying to make more of a sustained push north. So perhaps a faint glimmer but that's all it is at the current time:
