Mixed Week On The CardsAdded : Sunday at 9:32 Well, we would say a change to mixed conditions, but in fact the weather is set to continue in a similar vein as to the last week or so as the Atlantic continues to dominate the weather this coming week.
The reason? Well, the jet stream kind of says it all :-
Over the coming week it buckles slightly, but this won't stop low pressure areas rattling in from the West.
As always in these scenarios the devil is in the timings of the frontal systems which sweep in. If they all cross your region overnight then you might assume it's been a fabulous week, but if they all arrive at 8 in the morning then you would be forgiven for thinking the week has been a washout.
The start of the week doesn't look too bad away from the Southwest and across parts of Scotland where rain will continue to affect areas :-
On Tuesday we will see a band of heavier rain spreading in from the West, but wet only for Western areas as the front doesn't make it across to the East until after dark :-
Wednesday sees a ridge of high pressure trying to build from the South, but a clearing frontal system across Southern areas gets caught up in the process bringing light rain for Southern England :-
Thursday will see another system rattle in from the West with some strong winds for Northern parts of the UK :-
For the end of the week another system comes in from the West, but affecting Northern areas initially. This system is one we are keeping an eye on as models are struggling with how it stagnates near the UK over next weekend (talk about wishing our week away!). But the GFS ► takes this low into the North Sea and introduces a much cooler airstream for all parts of the UK with strong Northerly winds :-
The ECMWF ► has a similar view, but a far more transient event :-
So, whatever weather you have this week, some will think it was great, others rubbish, but in truth it was just a normal week weatherwise for the UK for the start of March.
